Would you like to share some more thoughts on this RD ?? :-) Abstracts are fine but they still need to justify their presence.

This is a pattern created by pouring rain in western ghats, on a red muddy surface. I did intended this to be an abstract at the time of click, decided as b/w. But I was not knowing the end result. I should say I knew 90% of the output at the time of creation. The emotions revolved around were many, felt satisfied, feeling of freshness but I guess loneliness dominated.
Does it make sense now ?

Your emotions do make a lot of sense RD, but probably not in relation to the image which you have posted. See abstracts could be related and leading and many a times visually distant from the thoughts. For example this image, no one but you would actually know or feel the emotions like you did just by going through the visual presentation. You speak of freshness as well as loneliness, let me describe it as JOY OF SOLITUDE, an emotion quite common among artists but when it comes to visually justifying your emotions, how would you relate it ? Can you for a moment forget this is your image, consider it mine and I created this when I felt very amorous, can you relate to my feelings using this image ? All I wish to say is that anything unrelated or unrecognizable does not stand alone to justify its presence as an ABSTRACT. Just my thoughts though....

Though of trying to discuss a few more things about abstract RD, I do not know if others would find it useful or not but let me try....What is an abstract ? What is it's objective or does the thought of art behind abstract begin from the lack of an objective ? I strongly feel that an abstract form in art was developed to provide a degree of freedom from the routine and conventional presentations where the degree does not have a boundary. The boundaries of such degrees of freedom are created by the artist from the point of objectivity is there is one. There are many words in art like lack of objectivity, non representational art, non figurative art which actually hang more or less close to each other and depend so much on the alternative argumentative presentations of the artist which forced him to move away from the realms of reality. Would you say anything which moves away from reality creates a body of art ? In most cases no, the degree of independence decides how much it gets absorbed in to the world of art. I can think of something which is either reality, or emotional or partially both, but what I present visually defies every boundaries of freedom are generally the weak creations. You could probably have been influenced more by the texture or the pattern or both and even your mental freedom ( not bothering to create something representational ) at the moment of creating this image, I can understand that, feel those feelings but when you say you knew that it would be an abstract at the time of creation that is when I thought of stepping in to say that anything which is beyond your experience is NOT an abstract. Have you read Istanbul by Orhan Pamuk ? The childhood life being described by the imaginary black and white visuals of a city filled with melancholy....the author freely created a degree of freedom in his thoughts around a fixed history to define how darkness and light helped shape up his life around a city long forgotten for its glamour. That is abstract RD, please go through the works of such great creations in literature, art as in painting, their life and understand their need to create such a degree of freedom. It would be not be very responsible as well as serious to pass off anything using a term his already hangs as a loosely stated term. I am sorry dear if you find my words a little too tough, but I thought that it was in the best interest of art that I push you a little to spend time reading, understanding and then creating.

Thanks for your views Vikas and Ashish

and Nilanjan :
As I said, I did have almost a similar "image" in my mind at the time of the click, and I explained what were the emotions i had at that time. I guess, both were/are not in sync, that takes the image to an 'un related' graphic. I have understoold your words, that poses a question as Ganesh pointed here.

I think i need more time to come out of this image, assume it as yours and look at it. If i'm successul in doing that, i will be able to understand your words better. I shall(?).

Isn't this wonderful to use 'images' to connect to people ? I wish all of us would master that language in our lifetime
thanks Nilanjan,

RD, I think my mind is seeking some anchor points to rest.

Do we always need anchor points ? I think yes but anchor points need not alway be physical (on the frame). It may be abstract too ! But I am not able find that abstract anchor point in my mind...

Ganesh, i thought the title RAIN gave the anchor point in mind. Can the title lead the viewer the way artists wants ?
