Portrait of a Forest: A Blue Wisp
One monsoon in BR Hills, I fell in love ... head over heels with this dark indigo beauty. I'd wait for early mornings, hear its surprising whistle and run out, wildly looking this way and that, trying to trace the call. The elusive whistler would almost always escape me. And even if I did spot it, this color? Well, you can only see it when the light falls obliquely on it. This once, we were driving, we heard it. Saw its dark shape on a branch, and whiplashed to a halt. it took flight -- one shaft of light caught it and lit up that indigo ... snap!

liked this Arati. The range of greens and this dash of blue as a contrast. I can hear the swish in the forest and the whistling school boy.
