Darter - Color or B&W ?
For a change this time I did lots of bird portraits but of a different kind (not of a bird-on-stick kind :) ). They are kind of 'avian macro' images with extreme shallow dof made using 840mm from very close quarters
using tilt adapters (22 degrees tilt at 840mm). I was trying to play with selective focus and was focusing on use of light and various 'bird designs' of mostly darters/egrets/cormorants/herons standing at one place for 2-3 days.

Will share them slowly. Between color and B&W what works better ? B&W below ..

And this is how the lens looked !

Hope this clears some doubts about the set up.

LOL Nilanjan's description of Birendar 's trauma is fabulous! I wonder how he would be narrating this shoot to his fellow Rikshaw friends :)

Both the versions are good Ganesh, while the BW places more emphasis on the eye, I find the color placing the emphasis on the beak. Depending on what you would want to highlight either would work IMO

Color works better for me! In color i tend to give less importance for the eyes but not in B & W.. not sure why!

Btw, I am wondering which one is tilted more - Darters neck or the Camera :)

Against my own will and to be honest to myself, I like the color version here, Ganesh. The golden beak loses its presence in the B&W as its tonal values merge with the rest. TFS.
