The Shove

The Shove
I was watching this herd graze one evening, when this female suddenly - inexplicably - turned shifted all her weight to the front foot, and *shoved* the female to her right. the force was so much that the shoved female veered, teetered and was displaced a few meters. the aggressor didnt stop there. she pick up grass and hit the other lady's flank with her trunk too. i was shooting the herd on slow shutter trying to catch trunk movement, and caught only nebulous fury.

Hi Arati,
Nice "nebulous" tangle here. For it to be a shove i'm trying to look beyond the frame, forelimbs surging into the victim.
Thanks for sharing

HI Nirlep,
thanks for the comment. i see where you are going with this and the left leg of the aggressor is indeed off the ground (tho out of the frame), but they do that only to get body weight flowing forward. The elephants use their trunks (and often foreheads) to shove "victims."

the best part tht i like about this pic is the tone ..agression very well represented with dark.... and motion is superbly rendered :)
