Seeing Wide!
Kids see in wide!

I recently made a short trip to Kabini and thought it would be a nice way to introduce my son Virinchi to the wild wonders. Very early into our first safari I realised that kids "see" everything in wide angle. They have an open mind and take in the entire scene. With our telephotos and binoculars in hand we grown ups loose this critical vision.

From then onwards it was a conscious effort on my side to zoom out, and after a while I put the camera down and just "saw"...

Should I be getting worried now?

A very powerful observation, Sriharsha. It did not occur to me. I think the reason for this might be we grownups have already decided in our mind what to see!! So straight zoom-in there, leave everything else. Such learnings have not been frozen in kids' mind yet. So they may scan the scene from left to right (or may be in all possible directions), stoping here and there to see what all interests them in the frame and ask questions.

Should I be getting worried now?

We should have, long ago, I guess :)

Interesting.. thanks for sharing.
