This betters your previous trips shots, I am not sure that the further water shimmering adds or distracts, the elephants march is captured perfectly.

I've come back soooo many times, since last night.
What a feel this image has, Praveen. Like fire and ice, with mammoths :) - you know what i mean.
Best of all, i like peeling the layers in this image. feel like looking at one layer at a time, enjoying it, then moving on to the one behind, and so on.

Something i very incandescent about this image... lovely.
Thanks,
Arati

Praveen, elephants beautifully stands out against the golden glow... I am still thinking how should handle those glittering river in my images. It is tough to handle. Is that the reason why you tried to keep the river out ? Or to close in on the elephants ?

when i exposed for the glittering water the bg was getting too dark....pulling out detail from that area would create lot of noice i felt....so i excuded the river in tight frames.....most of the frames from this area the river was excluded due to this...but there are few images were the river was the main subject and elephant to support the composition....

Tough to handle, was tough to decide there too :-). The silhouette images were not the problem, the problem arose when the elephants were getting down from the sand closer to Sambhar Rd....closing in was making it too tight and zooming out was including the river.....well, I personally did not mind the low details on the elephants as my intent was to combine the effect of the dust in highlight and the glittering water....but am also not sure about all my images made on that day. In some I composed with a lot of river and now I feel that I should have excluded a fair bit of it. Problem is that since all these images were made using the D300, it does not leave me a lot of scope for cropping also. :-). Another reason why now I feel the D800E is very useful specially in wildlife and nature.

Praveen, I've come back to this image a few times. What captivates me is the shimmering effect of water and the dust created by the elephants. Its really challenging to expose the water in this kind of situation and you have done it very well. Is this a full frame image? Thanks for sharing.
