Bloom
I was looking around for a nice BG & found a piece of tree bark fallen on the ground. It had interesting textures on both sides. I have images using both sides as BGs. I decided to convert this one to B&W (+ sepia) because even though BG had good texture, it was bit bright. And taking a clue from Ganesh HS' previous owl post, I thought of using channel mixer to annul the BG bark + highlighting the yellow flower.

Techs:
Nikon D300, Nikkor 105mm VR micro, tripod
f/16, 1/2.5, ISO200

Critiques welcome.

Lovely image Kaushik. Curves and glowing flower amidst muted bark of the tree makes this iamge very artistic for my taste. B&W offers a whole new possibilities of seeing. I think challenge is the "see" B&W in the field itself (which I never thought of so far) which I am sure will happen slowly. Thanks for sharing.

This is a lovely image. I agree with Ganesh, it is indeed very artistic and everything in this image has been well executed. Congrats.

Well executed shot indeed. The texture and the soft glow around the flower does this wonders.

Superb image Kaushik. Love the way you have converted this to monotone. Emphasis on the budding flower is just perfect and the color version of the same image that I have seen elsewhere is phenomenal too!
