I love this frame so much. Quintessential Western Ghats- forests, gods and vipers!

That's surprise!, Madhav, and religion do help conserve nature in many ways.

'Vanrai' as we call such temples deep in the forest in my part of Maharashtra. I saw my first pit viper close to the deity of such a Vanrai.

I would not have noticed the viper in the frame but for Sarthak’s comment! The snake in the frame makes it special. All are in their own world. An engaging and thought provoking frame, Madhav

Typical Malenadu scene. Tells a lot about human nature connection. Portrayed nicely Madhav. Title goes well with the concept

A very interesting image for an european. Here most people would have started to chase the viper. But actually, the viper is rather peaceful and we only need to take care of where the viper is laying.

Thank you all!

Yes Ravi, those who were present for the worship were totally fine with the snake. As the snake's posture is conveying, even it seemed uninterested in what we were doing. A healthy relationship indeed.

Agree Anders, if forest is untouched, creatures living can take care of themselves.

I am a bit surprised to see humans are not bothered by the presence of the snake.
Usually spectacle cobra is the only snake feared and worshiped by us. Other snakes, especially vipers are killed almost instantly when they are sighted.

Adithya, I hope that is restricted to Madodi surroundings (on a light note :) )

There is so much in this frame, well made ! The men may not even know about the viper being there and life goes on...true depiction of harmonious living.

I missed the snake on Insta. A very meaningful one. The poise of the extreme left person and that none are of the human faces are seen makes it excellent

Art is about what is inside rather than what is outside

WOW Madhav, you have done exceptionally well in showcasing the "wild" and the veneration for the "Wild". Its a great example to show how we can co-exist despite the perceived dangers of each other. Although I would like to hear the back story behind this image. Were they aware of the snake? Did you call out its presence?? Or did you go about letting Nature & Fate play their way???
Love images which throw in a lot of questions and gives out very little answers.
