Arati, good you are not skilled to freeze. Interestingly I think blurs and abstractions start appealing more to our senses as we grow more grey cells. We start with definitions, crispness, accuracy, bright colors, contrast and perfect these techniques initially (it is important BTW) . We buy sharpest lenses possible with ideal MTF charts. Later mind needs softness, muted tones, less contrast - may be in another word - peace. We start with science and end with art.

Anyway, back to this image, the narrow strip above and larger black region filled with a little curves of light makes a nice abstract composition. I would consider burning the out of focus tiny green regions in lower part of the frame. I think the image has a secretive appeal with an under current. As I said earlier, critique is a creation - you may have a different meaning for this image

I agree with Ganesh on the 1st paragraph. And some of us may reach thre fatster than others. This is also synonyms to interest in music and listening. Grey cells start liking abstracts, mild, unsharp etc.

What I liked the most here is the dark tone giving affect of alge and gentle wave effect. This should go as large canvas for wall hanger.

[the water was still that day, and it's nothing but grass in the green portion at the top. everyone around was busy shooting and i was wondering what to shoot, the sun was so bright... ] Was it krish who said during the introductions "when you are stuck in one place and have to shoot, you end up having to create..." i dont know if i created anything much, but i definitely ended up experimenting!

but if i were to leave the actual setting behind and look deeper into this image, the hint of reeds and grasses makes me wonder what lies beneath, in that dark area. and slowly then my mind drifts up to the green area and wonders - is that algae?

this image, to me, has a feel of a tissue saree. one where the fibres can be seen and yet it weaves together to make fabric.
the effect of waves created when i let light dance makes this interesting to me.

I have not developed much grey cells yet i guess(as i still try to capture sharp pics!!!) But i love this frame Lovely series Arati.

I like the spirit behind this entire 'Dance Lightly' series. I think when you have a specific subject and limited yourself to shoot this, one tends to start clicking with visions like this. This is easily the best in the series and the other two have their place in telling that you don't have to be satisfied with just one attempt, each one will be a different image with different mood. Good all these images were a result of great visualisation.

hmm intersection of science and art. reminds of something called a bubble chamber in Nuclear labs where electrons leave a trail which is studied. Well seen well done

good heavens rajkumar - that is exactly what i had in mind when i titled the blogpost "light experiments" except, happily here, the act of observation is not altering the path of the particle!

thanks raviprakash, VMR and Rajkumar. yes VMR, the trick was to closet oneself in physically, with very few options. then one sets the thing that you can never closet, free -- your imagination! sounds too philosophical - but i hope you know what i mean.

like what pramod also said at the meet, one thing CNP allows you is to "not be afraid" - and that liberation is proving fun for me

you dance lightly on this subject also . that would be the paulis uncertainty principle if I remember right no Heisenberg uncertainty principle
But you have changed things by your act of observation haven't you. So still in conformance to the laws of Physics

very creative image Arati its new dimension..when I saw it for the first time before reading it was the effect from grass I felt like tadpoles having a race inside water..
