I agree with Michael "Nick" Nichols... if chimpanzees are our closest genetic relatives, then elephants are our closest spiritual relatives. i, for one, feel very deeply reverent in the presence of this great being.

Thanks guys.
Thinking about this image further, combined with feedback from a close friend, i am beginning to feel like maybe i lost the essence here of the animal in its element? Does this look too much like a "studio shot" or "still life"? Did the "life" go out of it in the rendering?

Not even once did i get a thought of Studio. Its an amazing shot- love the tones and the silence. It has enough elements to experience silence in the viewer's mind. I mean "life with silence".

The square composition works very well here. The tip of the trunk facing forward makes the image for me. Amazing !
