What is the disturbed mind trying to convey ? Does it want the disturbance to pass on as a ripple to the mind of the viewers or is it expecting the peaceful and undisturbed mind of the viewers to reduce the disturbance in the mind of the creator ? What will please him more ? Or does he not wish to be pleased, does he wish to remain or gain in disturbance to grow in his art ? This is getting interesting actually, I have read about sadistic creations, many writers, many painters have wanted to do this, they have often felt fulfillment in art from the suffering caused to the viewer or reader. Am not trying to say that you have posted a disturbing image, am just trying to understand if you create these from motivation or the lack of it ? Am trying to feel is a state of sadness or anger or confusion or even frustration led to creation of these images and how it leads to happiness when shared ? These are extremely delicate questions here RD, probably more to be discussed one to one, but trusting our relation I just wanted to have an insight here which might appear to be a very interesting read for many of us. Ganesh recently responded to a state of sadness and emptiness while creating a series, it was open to interpretations, similarly I too wish to understand how much of these creations are actually open to such interpretations. Your images force me imagine your ever smiling face to fade more and assume what lies hidden beneath. I could not read that fully when I met you, but with your images I sense a forceful leak of the what you have tried to conceal..... If you find this comment unsuitable plz let me know and I shall delete it.....it only has academic interest. I saw a book once where the foreword said the book is about understanding the demon in the god....can't remember the name of the book, I should have read it then only.

It might interest you RD, I have recently picked up a book called Shadows of War.....it explains expressions, expressions which take it to the physical form thus leading to a war of logic, or even jihad... but it also talks about similar expressions which lead to the mental form......many of which have led to creations of lovely art. It's interesting how similar expressions can lead to destruction and creativity.

I like the black border here - you took advantage of it beautifully well. I love those trees emerging from the border. Vertical pano works well. Thanks for sharing RD..

RD, I would love to have this printed as a bookmark :). The aspect ratio really calls for it :)

Nilanjan:

The question on what is "distrubed mind" or for that matter what is "peaceful mind" is interesting. According to me one will have peaceful mind only when he/she is sleeping ( i tended to write 'death' but, when one is dead there is no mind to add the adjective ).
"does he wish to remain or gain in disturbance to grow in his art?" - may be yes,
i'll put it as "does he wish to remain AND gain in disturbance to grow in his art "
this is when most of the best creations have happened. An artist's mind is always busy - busy in looking at what he/she wants to see.

Images i have been working on from past 2-3 years, so called clutters, have been created at different timings and different emotions, moods, states of mind. Some have been created when others felt i was happier that day, some when i felt i was happier, some when i had agressions in my mind, some when i felt i was playful, some are created when there was nothing else to see and click. Most of it happens in the mind rather than in the field. Some took days to realize, some took moments to click, some happened without expecting what i want.

This image was created when i was not looking at the subjects you see here. I didnot want to look at those devastated trees with forest fire. I just opened the shutter while driving on the road not looking thru view finders. I didnot stop my car to click. There was sadness, there was a bit of anger, there was bit of silence, there was an urgency of meeting my personal commitments to society around me back in Bangalore, ... Too many things happened, i have created what i felt.

But, those trees are disturbed, are reaching out to sky, to touch the clouds and feel the rain.

I am sure what you see from this image is totally different than what I feel; and I know both of us need not see the same and feel the same.

My reading habit is in coma, i need to wake up, shall try reading your suggested book soon.

There is no unsuitable comment on my images, even un-parliamentary language is accepted buddy :)

One more avid follower of CNP Manjunath, (not a member but follows CNP regularly) sent me a message

"The thing is your images provoke far complex emotions than you intended " - and " you explained in your comment
those trees are disturbed, are reaching out to sky, to touch the clouds and feel the rain.
but you see this piece of art make us think human condtion and the clutterness of life , this is how art makes us feel , at times , far more emotions than creator ever thought of "

Now i wonder what am i doing ? Should an image have only one meaning of what the creator has intended ?

Interesting thoughts about the trees being disturbed......hmmmm. Yes, I know you have been working seriously on such visuals and there are some very nice frames you have created. Regarding this one, I wanted to know about your thoughts first, hence I intentionally did not comment on the image. I felt very strongly that the trees even in overlap have symmetry, have a lot of order and generate a sense of smoothness in the mind. There was not a space here which I felt was out of place, it did not generate the frustrations of confinement, or the force to jump out of the imaginary containing thought box. It rather has a calming effect on my mind. See, how some very interesting thoughts have come up, I derive energy from calmness, you derive energy for creations so differently. What appears to be clutter for you may be, appears an ensemble of thoughts varying in degree for me. In fact I thought so much about this image yesterday that at one point I was thinking if the disturbance is in the mind of the artist then at what different degrees of such feelings the visuals keep changing. Does it change with the intensity of anger, sadness or frustration. I was also thinking about the degree of response while creating. A subtle disturbance might not show much intensity in the visual again a lot of disturbance in the mind too might not exhibit a vigorous intensity in the visual. Since your image does not clearly exhibit a vigorous intensity of chaos, disorder etc etc, hence was trying to understand the level at which sadness, anger or frustration etc was working for you to create these images. Perhaps all meaningless thoughts, but I gained a lot of pleasure in trying to understand this :-). For me either a person is a true artist, does not withhold his / her emotions while creating or a person is fully a social person, law abiding, governed by what should be or what should not be etc. I can feel the energy in your images where you try to break the chain, perhaps can understand your silent questions too. I agree with your image making decisions, all I can say is the journey might help you to be more bold and simply not care about the dictations about how to be and how to create. Enjoy buddy, am enjoy all your creations. I have often silently appreciated, but plz do not think they are negatives or rejections. Take care buddy......

Enough has been written about this image, RD. I probably need to re-read the comments to get a grip on what is being said. Coming to the image/clutter series, I love this whole set of art work you have been creating and presenting. This one is no different. On the border: i usually ignore the border when I look a the image. For me, the borders tend to shift the focus. This image is an exception. The border is very a part of the image here. Ganesh aptly mentioned that the trees seem to emerge from the black border. Nice choice and well presented. Thanks for sharing.

RD - on a recent trip to BR hills i shot a lot of "RD images" as we called them :) The Art of Clutter is on grand display in this season in that forest ...

i love this image. as people have said, the border+trees combo rocks. have come back to feast eyes on this many times.
as for the analogy to the mind, it reminds me of transcendental meditation. where you allow every thought - some come and go. some come back to reinforce - the darker parts of this image. Most just die, if you dont feed them (that's the idea) ... this image, for me, is transcendental mediation photographed :)

thanks
A
