Art of Nature - Yet Another Dead Leaf
Yet another dead leaf flew by and landed next to me, which I would not have noticed otherwise.

The current knowledge is: Over millions of years, one of it mutated in such a way to resemble a half dried dead leaf which helped it survive better compared to rest of its family members. Over the years its genes survived leading to many "dried leaves" in our jungles. Similar explanations pervade for every species in Nature from "leaves" to Giraffes. While some consider this as a "proven theory", a few others treat this as an informed guesswork. The recent research and theories around Horizontal gene transfer and Gene editing in future may offer more aesthetic and beautiful explanations about how we all came into this beautiful planet called earth!

I am sure you will notice what flew by into my frame above. If you still miss it you may open this link to take a closer look at the "dead leaf".

Actually it took a while before I saw the airborne leaf.
It is striking what an effect a very sharp picture could make -this is sharper as in real life. In the real world there is a deepness, which means different leaves have different distance to me, and I have to re-focus my eyes on different focus plane all the time. But the picture is two dimensional and I can see it all, at the same time!

What a camouflage, Ganesh! It is a great fit for this month's theme...

Phenomenal creation by nature and a great eye from the photographer. I too agree with Ramesh on this being fit for this month’s theme. TFS

Superb image Ganesh. This picture looks so raw and dare i say 'fresh'! Almost like looking down a window at the forest floor. Diffused light adds further to the frame. I applaud your effort in capturing this image Ganesh. It would be breath-taking to see this in a large print or a large display. TFS
