Praying Mantis - A Perspective
Made a quick 4 day visit to a remote village near foot hills of Western Ghats. This time I had a macro theme in mind "Life under Leaf" and was looking for subjects that suit this theme. This is one such. I deliberately chose shallow dof (f5) using a 200mm macro lens to selectively emphasize the mantis. Love to know your views..

PS : I have been very busy these days, not enough time to process my images (lots of them still pending) and slow on commenting too. Hope to catch-up as soon as I can..

Life under leaf it is! Your mind is full of infinite possibilities in terms of compositions! This is literally like music flowing *free* from the musician's mind. Great frame Ganesh! A very small glitch in viewing this is a bit of JPEG artefact at the bottom of the frame? It doesn't matter as am sure this looks splendid on a print!

You are right Pramod, did not notice the artifact Should be possible to take care of it if I print. This one is a full frame image. Thanks for pointing out...

Rich green against dark patch makes image for me. Creature in middle with upside down position is unique visualization too !

Unique one Ganesh! Loved your visualization... the dark bg and green spray and the posture of the mantis make the image for me...

Fantastic image, Ganesh. Others have already covered various aspects of this. I definitely liked your choice of shallow DOF. That adds a magical feel to it. TFS.

I liked the natural framing here, with blurry "Green" leading your eyes into the center black portion dominated by a strong "Green" mantis. I cant put this in writing but it somehow gives the viewer (me) a sort of a oscillating emotional impact on color. IMO it would have been even more enhanced if you had included more of the blurry green at the bottom and excluded the top 1/10 of the frame where you have black reappearing at the end of the grass blade

Life just changes by lot when you are out in field with a particular concept or theme in mind while photographing.
Instead of shooting what you see - you get to search for what you want to see.
Life under leaves is a very lovey concept Ganesh.
This one here with greens and dark tones are just mesmerizing. I just want to see this on print to enjoy more.
Looking forward for the entire series.
