Coming Home!
The moonrise in the west is a real treat to watch! That too if you are in the northern hemisphere then the colors of the evening is a bonus on top of this. I was enjoying a wonderful evening, then these Canada geese started returning to the river and the moon was out that time creating a unique mood. Tried my best to capture the mood but not sure how much I succeeded.... This is a single exposure image with basic processing of levels and canvassing.

This image is a cropped one from the original which was made using 18-135mm lens on D80 body on a last October evening. I wish I had my 300mm at that time. By the time I got my 300mm lens in the next Feb end, these birds had migrated to the warmer region. :(

Thanks for your viewing.

Beautiful image to begin with. Couple of things that came to my mind...
By the look of the flight, if u'd waited for a second or 2, then the geese wud've flown diagonal & upwards crossing the moon in such a manner that moon could be place in bottom-left 1/3-rds intersection point with one or 2 ducks just in front of the moon & rest above & towards right of the frame. That might have made a better impact I feel (a personal opinion). Am sure if it was feasible in field though...! Am not sure if I managed to convey what's there in my mind.

Lovely image Ashwin - wish the moon being slightly up in the frame but then we can't always get everything the way we wanted in nature..

Lovely I liked both your Canadian Swan series. Both are so different and yet convey the same emotion. I dont think you could have done any better as these moments are so fleeting that its a great attempt just capturing these scenes and you have captured them wonderfully with both having something which rivets the viewers attention and making it a unique picture, without which it would have been another picture flying birds.

Very thoughtful image ashwini. Like the fact that only part of the moon is visible.

Beautiful image Ashwin. I agee with Kaushik about waiting for a little longer before tripping the shutter. Nevertheless, moon in the frame is always a treat to watch!

The World Wide Web is overburdened with Silhoutes of Birds against the Rising or the Setting Sun,
I think it is an unusual application of Thought and Rest is visible,
Makes a Great Read Shwin.Thank you.
