I like this as a series. There is a progression of visual from 1 to 4. I am thinking, how about next image you actually make some kind of paper sketch "what you want to say next" and then go find that image ?

Thanks Adithya and Raj.

@Raj,
how about next image you actually make some kind of paper sketch "what you want to say next" and then go find that image ?

I wish it works that way. But, here when I get a subject I try to spend as much time as possible. I try to visit the same subject multiple times with different angles and lighting conditions etc. Of course, fortunately as I'm shooting mostly in my backyard I can spend more time with my subjects. Definitely there will be some pre-visualization from my part, but at the same time I'm trying not to be restrictive about how and what I click and also I try to be receptive of all the surprises nature throws at me. Sometimes it works and sometimes doesn't. I'm still learning. I think finding the balance could reward much more. I'm not sure whether I answered your question.

Again it's big subject of whether pre-visualization is restrictive or helps the photographer better in terms of preparedness. Appreciate if you could share your views on this.

Note: BTW, this image is a stack of two images hence in this category.

Best Regards

Yes, I love for that connection. The arrangements of sticks in the nature looks random. Are they really? Isn't 'random' our construct arising from our constraints? Just thinking.
I like ants not choosing to explore the other 'path'..

I will just state a possible approach I would try.
Now that I have 5-6 images taken with some thoughts and feeling I would make small prints even a 5X6 inch is enough. Keep looking at them. May be for a month ? Arranging in various orders and sequences. Become more and more conscious/aware of deep connections and thoughts that led me to create these images. Then see if a few additional pieces are missing in the puzzle and try to fill them in. It is a hard task but worth it in my mind.
Just my approach. Both type of shooting are a part of the journey Instinctive and Pre-meditated (Pre-visualization is a more mechanical term . Does not characterize correctly I feel )

Thanks Ganesh.

Thanks Raj for taking time to explain it further. Very valuable inputs. I have not thought in that direction. If I do it(printing the images and looking at them for days then deciding on the keepers) I may end up rejecting more than the keepers :D But, even if I can find one or two images after that, I think it'll be worth all the efforts. Another aspect of it is practicality of this due to my location. I need to find a way to get this done. I think this will be really useful and more rewarding.

Best Regards

A fine image.
So thruth, even very simplified the nature turns out to be complex.
Nice that the ants go in both directions.

Lovely image Prashanth. The ants on adding a lot to the image, TFS.

I was making a series with a theme "disconnected yet connected" some time back with the similar subjects. You may also try out of focus with such subjects and they may also have some different feel.
