A leaf aflame
On my hunt for interesting subjects around Hebbal lake, I saw a hibiscus plant with a small leaf on the verge of being shed. It had turned red-and-yellow in the process of dying. I found that the colours along with the shape of the leaf could make an interesting image and took a vertical shot to make the leaf look like the flame of a candle. Whilst processing the image, I adjusted the levels to turn the dull grey background to black. I do not know how original this concept is, however I had the satisfaction of having got something I had never done before. :-)

This is a full-frame image.

An interesting image Gowri - love the flame like colors. Eyes seem to be wanting to see the base of the flame - may be not cutting the flame at bottom and top will add to this abstract image. Also, instead of turning the grey to total black may be retaining it as darker shade of grey will bring this closer to reality, yet abstract - just my thoughts...

Very Nice Work Gowri ... I too feel some more of the flame might have added more to the composition here ... still the flame colors have come out Beautifully ...

Beautiful abstract. Indeed its a flame. The black blends nicely with the leaves here giving a smoother transition.

Rich colours & lovely contrast. Regions of sharp central vein with rest of the leaf in OOF makes the image an interesting one.
