I think one of the dangers of safari images is sometimes the subject is not to the desirable portrait standards but the light and play works to create mood images. In this case it falls a little short of conveying the mood. I suggest a b/w conversion with some burn around to bring about the spotlight effect. Hope I understood the image well. I suggest writing a few lines in cases on such images.

VMR Sir: Thanks for the comment. I have a few frames of the same and the images were deliberately underexposed to get the spotlight effect. Along with the spotlight, it was also the clutter around that made me visualize this frame, but not sure how the clutter adds to the feel of the image. As suggested by you, I will surely try some monotones on this.
