Dear Shivkumar L Narayan

Namaskar…!

My type of being is to explore the inner-self in the real life through awareness and watchfulness…. Meditation, reading, music and in close communion with nature I find myself utterly in a new space which I very humbly would love to call it not-borrowed, not-imitated, not-traditional…. It is not even an outcome of a stream of unconscious routine and monotonous human mindset, conditioning …. As I go on growing in my search for the self, something unnecessary and nonessential also go on eliminating in me……dropping and dying forever. It creates ‘space’ in me which I call ‘Creative Space’ that soothes and nourishes the heart and sublimates the feelings. Spiritual ‘space’ leads towards ‘Enlightenment’ and ‘artistic space’ is the manifestation of the spiritual inclination. This ‘space’ you call in your comment ‘emptiness’…is the same which I call it ‘space’…. This ‘emptiness or ‘space’ is one of the five most essential ‘elements’ of life. Life becomes more colorful, more musical, more celebrating, more joyous more blissful and more meditative in the presence of these five elements. I would love to mention in this reference of line, the most enchanting and melodious musical albums that have ever been visualized and composed in the Indian Classical Music so far. The name of the instrumental music set is 1) Elements- Water 2) Elements- Earth 3) Elements- Fire 4) Elements- Wind and 5) Elements- Space by Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Pt Bhaskar Chandawarkar, Shri Vanraj Bhatia and Ustad Zakir Hussain.

One who is the pilgrim of art must listen to them. Between two notes, there is very subtle space and real music is not in sound but in silence between two notes…..this is ‘musical space’. This ‘musical-space’ leads us into silence…all thoughts come to an end…there is complete cessation of thoughts. This is the real beauty of art of music…..in poetry, real meaning lies between two words or two lines……this is ‘poetic-space’ from where real creativity blossoms with real essence. In photography, we call ‘negative space’ or ‘positive space’, but that emptiness also has its hidden exposures and saturations of non-visual emptiness. All forms of arts have their own ‘SPACE’. This space is real void of creativity…in physics we call it quantum-leap. This non-existential idea emptied of nothingness is what is out of the reach of our common and routine consciousness. ‘Objective Art’ fills up this emptiness with jubilation and celebration of life with all freshness and tenderness.

My images also reflect the same….. ‘a hint’- only ‘an indication’…a finger pointing out ‘the moon’…when the moon is visualized, the finger becomes nonessential, but the finger in the journey is utterly helpful…I am always in search for the essential…for ‘the moon’…nonessential becomes only a help. Experimenting with the placement of the elements creating ‘space’ is my way of expression of ‘a hint’ or ‘a message’ from nature…..

Regards…..
