    		Last monsoon, one night, we set out to experience the forest. As we were about to get off the road and take a trail in, we noticed a movement as also an approaching car. It was a juvenile rock python crossing the road. Timing both paces, we knew the python will not make it, and were not sure if the car would slow down. Putting ourselves in the middle we cradled the python in the hook and gently put it to the side it was trying to reach. The dramatic light in the image is the reflection of headlights on the rain-soaked tarmac. It is disturbing to see the number of roadkills on the roads that criss-cross the Western Ghats. Large scale mining and growing human population have decimated large tracts of natural habitats in Goa. The rescue though significant in itself is but a speck in the scheme of forest life of that area. Hundreds of frogs, snakes and caecilians may be found run over. Guides report a decline in frequency of sightings.

    Here, the mother provides a wall behind which the little one discovers the ways of the elephants. Separately, on the conclusion of CNP Meet 2016, I have to thank providence that I met such a large number of wonderful people in one place. Thank you all!
    		 May we imagine the times that he may have seen?… the poser is prompted by the magnificent tusks that have etches of time and cracks with time. Each of these etches and cracks have their own story... this is the beauty of this one-of-a-kind animal... it remembers and reacts
