An Impression!
My first post in CNP. At the onset, my sincere thanks to all who conceptualized this forum. It’s quite overwhelming to see the quality of images being posted here regularly.

About the image:
This was photographed in Kaziranga. The dirt roads in Kaziranga are at higher elevation than the adjacent grassland and it helped me to compose the frame the way I wanted. It was intriguing to see the lone tusker grazing in the “bed” of tall reddish grasses where only part of its body and white tusks were distinctly visible. The placement of the elephant in the frame was a deliberate choice, so as the proportionate size of the elephant in the frame.

Lovely Image. It looks like a beautiful painting to me. When I look at this image my first glance goes on to the tusker, and then immediately to the landscape (mind perceives landscape as VAST), but the vastness of the landscape abruptly ends when I see this frame. So I feel a wider perspective of the same would look great i.e. a little bit more width on left side of the image.

Welcome Sandipan !

While we have seen many variations of "small in the frame" this one looks different. Grass covered face and mid tone domination makes it artistic in my view.

Hope you will enjoy the forum.

welcome buddy :) !!!! Another example of how mesmerizing life looks in Kazi :). I guess this one can be a good B&W candidate too.

Welcome on CNP Sandipan,
I remember seeing this on NPN or someother intern'l forum. I am really touched with this giant being dwarfed image. Infact I really love the elephant among the grasses, the mix of the habitat and the animal is quite right, I would love to see more tonal range especially on the blacks in the elephant. You could make full use of the 1024 pixels and 400 KB size which CNP allows especially for these kind of images. Looking forward for more especially from your Kazi elephant series.

Welcome Sandipan and an artistic start in this wonderful forum.
The midtones are wonderful here, i would have tried a monochrome too on this. For my taste, i would have had the elephant a bit smaller than this.
