This lighting and tonal ranges is very interesting to me Arati. Can you please let me know the place/month/date of this image ? Same place as your elephant B&W image ? Sri Lanka ?

no, this was Yala - october 4, 2011. 3:25pm. Yala is in the zone that gets the North-east monsoon, and this was the first day of the rumblings and fury. This sky was changing in seconds and no two scenes were the same, with the sun desperate to break through. we didnt see this scene again on the other days, despite more ominous clouds!

What are those in the water ? Elephants ??

no there were water buffalo, wild boar, egrets, painted storks, crocs, etc.

Nice gothic feel to the omnious clouds here. Loved the lit cloud part, shows how difficult it is for the sun to break through. How about cutting down on the mid tones a bit to increase the feel?

Yeah to me also the lighting and tonal range appeals a lot. Lighting on the tree trunk makes the image for me.

Love the curves of the old tree on the left. Heavenly lighting and black and white conversion creates eerie mood. Patch of light on the distant pond is icing on the cake. Wonderful execution from conception to presentation!

Pramod, Nirlep - that tree made the image for me, even more than the clouds. the Yala trees - the lagoon trees are all gnarled and have these whitish barks. So much drama. with the rest, i think i just got lucky - the water, the clouds, the sun - the light was changing every second and i was making many images

harsha: i have no clue what that means - i can guess, but am still a pp novice! does it mean make the general mid tones darker?

Dramatic clouds have been captured very well, especially clouds meeting at the horizon.

so dramatic play of light 'n tones, arati. esp. like those sudden break of lights 'n lagoon trees.
