Nevil, I very fine image indeed. With or without buildings works well.

An excellent image, Nevil. The abandoned feel is accentuated very well by the flying bat at the top (it is easy to miss this in a small screen of phones I guess). Unpretentious rubble at the bottom and leafless sad looking trees at the bottom adds further to the overall mood of the image. The grain and B&W further adds to the abandoned feel of the image. What is that tiny butterfly shaped white spot on the tree?

Thank you Shankar K n G Shankar :)
I preferred the buildings to tell the story, otherwise it's nothing more than a beautiful image for me.
It's on dslr but I preferred to keep it more raw. I agree, it can be processed better. That spot is a moth in foreground.
Warm regards.

Oh lovely. An abandoned civilization. I always wondered we talk about 1000 years into the past so easily as History. So very difficult to imagine a 1000 years into the future ....

Like the scene from an apocalyptic world.
A fine, fine image.

A beautiful storytelling image, Nevil sir! Ganesh sir's comment sums up the image really well.
I found that bright spot on the tree distracting at first but was happy to find out that its a moth.
Tfs

Yes indeed, the buildings tell a lot. The trees without leafs add to the abondoned feeling. But insects and bats can still survive when we humans since long ago given up.

Coming back again to draw Pratamesh's attention about maximalistic images.
I find this image a very good example for amalgamating many elements in one frame to tell a story.

Also, I feel many of Nevil's images are very good examples of these kind of images.
