Ramesh, I would prefer the one posted in the forum. Grains often adds to the dimension. May be you could tweak the size/randomness of the distribution ? In the film world the distribution and structure of grains are different in highlight/mid/shadow regions. It is more pronounced in shadow region with slightly larger sized grains. Not sure which tool you use to add grains. Personally I like the Nik's "Film Grain" filter which can exactly simulate this characteristic and control the structure/distribution of grains in three different tonal ranges.

Thanks Ganesh for your inputs. I add grains in CaptureNX 2 (that I use for digital developing). I did notice the difference in the grain strength in highlights and shadow areas. I guess the 'Nik's Grain' filter is available in their SilverEfex, isn't it? I will give that a try. Only hitch is SilverEfex doesn't work with CaptureNX2 and I don't have any of the Adobe's software. I have been thinking of procuring one and it's time I get one :)

Ramesh
