i actually liked the original one ganesh....personally i thgt the smaller compo is a bit too tight on the cute calf :)....cutting the mom's trunk also takes away the mutual communication element somehow ..its just a personal taste and would await other's opinions

Thanks for your views Suhas! I think this forum is serving its purpose :)

Yes, may be a difference in personal taste. When I saw the image I felt the core of this image is the interaction between the mother and young one. I felt those grassland and rest of the elements diluted photographers intention of conveying the close interation, which I thought could be strengthened with a close crop. Also, I felt such a crop gives the image a unique appeal.

Neverthess, I agree with you that our taste buds decide...

Hi Ganesh,

I really liked the new perspective. They key elements according to me in this are the kids interaction and also the eyes of the mother and the calf - which are very well depicted in the new crop.

As you said its personal taste and what you want to present.

Though I am not a very creative person I want to share a few words. When I saw Ganesh's version my eyes first went to cub's eyes then onto mother's eyes then onto right upper part of the image ( near the ears of the mother) and created a sort of precise warm emotion. In total I liked it very much.
Nurdeen's version also did that but that was not so precise and intense.
